Last week’s Game Finance Market event, held at the London Games Festival, showed the financing market for the gaming industry is very strong.
65 investors had put $816 million into gaming startups, the most money ever committed at the event.
The U.K. video gaming market accounted for $9.7 billion in 2020 sales. In that same year, spending on software and hardware in the industry grew by 30%.
The largest factor in spending growth for 2020 was undoubtedly the pandemic. With more people staying at home, entertainment became a priority. Software sales grew 18%, hardware rose nearly 61% to a new record of $3.1 billion.
