Sony Corp may be looking to make a big splash in the mobile gaming industry by launching PlayStation console games into mobile.
While not official, a curious job posting may offer some certainty.
Sony is looking for a Head of Mobile, that will “focus on successfully adapting PlayStation’s most popular franchises for mobile”. And the candidate “will be responsible for building and scaling a team of mobile leaders and will serve as the Head of this new business unit within PlayStation Studios.”
Some of Sony’s most popular console games include Naughty Dog’s Uncharted, The Last of Us, Polyphony’s Gran Turismo, Insomniacs Ratchet & Clank and Santa Monica’s God of War. The job posting goes on further to explain that a 3 to 5 year roadmap will need to be developed and deployed.
It’s no secret that console gaming giants like Sony and Xbox are quickly moving into mobile gaming. In a short time, a majority of all gaming revenues may come from mobile devices, so the gold-rush in mobile gaming is just beginning.
