Last month, Netflix announced its intention to go full-steam into video game streaming

In an attempt to add to their catalogue of movies and television series, the company has targeted gaming as its next growth vehicle.

The “Netflix Games’ titles will be available to Polish subscribers first, as a test run. The games, “Stranger Things 3” and “ Stranger Things: 1984” will come at no additional cost to subscribers.

Additionally, Netflix says the initial launches will include no advertisements and no ques for in-app purchases. Should the launch go well, the company is likely to take the test run globally.

Eventually, Netflix is likely to  include ads and in-app purchases, especially if the service remains a free ad-on to the regular Netflix subscription.

With video streaming becoming highly competitive, Netflix is looking to enter the gaming market to help increase its subscriber base, where growth has been slowing. Gaming is the next great growth industry, and Netflix sees the writing on the wall.

In order to beat other streamers, like Disney+, Netflix will need to acquire titles and roll-them-out at lightning speed.
