Advertising revenue from in-game ads is expected to increase 32% to $56 billion by 2024

The strong growth in revenue comes on the back of gamer acceptability of advertising within games.

According to a recent report by Accenture, over 73% of mobile gamers say they are open to viewing in-game ads. With most gamers now accepting advertising as part of play, ad revenue could reach $100 billion by the close of the decade, perhaps much more.

The majority of in-game advertisements are viewed by casual gamers, who see ads as non-intrusive to gameplay. However, hardcore gamers, who have been leerier of ads, are becoming more receptive. Because of this, publishers of more intensive games, those developed for the hardcore audience, now see how advertising could help boost revenues beyond tokens, skins, and up levels.

As in-game advertisements become more prevalent, revenues for developers and publishers will skyrocket. One new in-game ad technique involves selling real-world items within immersive games. Right now, most purchasable in-game items are related to the game, such as skins or up levels.

However, new, and patented technology out of TCI Entertainment could allow real-world items to be purchased in-game. Gamers could have the ability to create their own ecommerce stores within almost any game, allowing them to collect commissions on real sales.

This new ecommerce/gaming technology could help boost ad revenues far beyond $100 billion by 2030, as the ecommerce market alone is worth over $10 trillion annually.
