Timi Studios, owned by Tencent, has reportedly earned $10 billion in 2020.  The developer is know for huge mobile hits such as “Call of  Duty: Mobile” and “Honor of Kings.”


$10 billion in earnings for 2020 would make Timi the world’s largest mobile developer.  In comparison, publicly traded Activation Blizzard reported 2020 revenues of $8.09 billion.  To note, Activision publishes the Call of Duty franchise for consoles.

Considering many gamers are moving towards mobile play, it makes sense that mobile versions of popular games will generate massive revenues.  And Timi’s games are now some of the biggest in the world.  Call of Duty: Mobile had reached over 100 million downloads in the first week of its launch.  Honor of Kings (China only) may have as many as 100 million daily active users.

Tencent, and other large gaming companies have been on an acquisition spree.  It’s expected that this year, 2021 could see the largest investments in M&A in the industry, ever.
